Life Expectancy of Silicone Rubber

Reglin premium silicone rubber will display excellent heat resistance and thermal stability.

Reglin’s range of specially formulated silicone compounds will display extreme high temperature resistance and thermal stability. Silicone will maintain its flexibility and physical properties over a wide temperature range.

The physical properties of Silicone will not be adversely affected by prolonged exposure to temperatures ranging from -60°C to + 200°C.  It can also withstand intermittent exposure to even higher temperatures.

The chart shown provides a guide to silicone life expectancy in applications at elevated temperatures.

As a general rule, for every 10°C higher than the recommended constant working temperature of 200oC the life expectancy will be reduced by 50%.

For example, if Silicone in your application has a life expectancy of 2 years at 200°C constant, increasing its operating temperature to 210°C will reduce this to 1 year. Increasing to 220°C will reduce further to 6 months.

This information is a guide only and designed to show relative life expectancy of Silicone rubber at elevated temperatures. This is not a guarantee of life at these temperatures and this may not relate to your particular application.
