Product: Reglin Rubber Load Mat – Bonded Installation
Project Overview
A construction company operating in the heavy civil industry required a safe and compliant transport solution for moving heavy tracked equipment. Their trailer was designed with narrow shaped steel deck sections, creating limited surface area and complex geometry for load placement.
To comply with Australian Load Restraint Guidelines, the company was advised to implement a high-friction surface to eliminate steel-on-steel contact and improve load restraint efficiency.
However, standard loose matting options were not suitable. Recycled crumb rubber mats were quickly dismissed as they would crumble and break apart under the heavy pressure and abrasion of steel tracks. Even solid premium rubber mats, if simply laid in position, would not withstand the torque and tearing forces generated as machinery drove on and off the trailer.
Challenge
The company required a durable, high-friction, wear-resistant surface that would:
- Withstand repeated loading from tracked civil equipment
- Remain securely in place under extreme force
- Provide a long-lasting, compliant load restraint surface
- Prevent steel-on-steel contact and potential equipment movement
Solution: Solid Rubber Load Mat fully bonded to steel trailer deck surface
Reglin supplied Rubber Load Mat cut to suit the trailer’s narrow, shaped steel deck sections. The mat was manufactured from a premium solid rubber compound, chosen for its high tensile strength, elasticity, and wear resistance, ideal for withstanding the aggressive forces of tracked machinery.
Recognising that loose matting would not survive in this application, Reglin’s customer, a specialist rubber lining contractor fully bonded the rubber load mat directly to the trailer deck using Reglin’s Chemlok 205 Metal Primer and TAC 250 Cold Bonding Adhesive system.
This bonding method ensured the rubber mat became a permanent part of the trailer structure, preventing it from being displaced or torn by the steel tracks during loading. The result was a robust, high-friction surface that provided consistent grip, stability, and protection for the steel deck.

Result
The bonded rubber load mat provided a durable, safe, and compliant transport surface that performed exceptionally under heavy-duty use.
Key benefits included:
- Long service life – resisted tearing, ripping, and surface damage
- Improved load restraint – increased friction and prevented movement
- Permanent installation – bonded securely to steel surface
- Enhanced safety – eliminated steel-on-steel contact
- Maintenance efficiency – no loose mats to replace or reposition
Conclusion
This project demonstrates Reglin Rubber’s capability to provide engineered load restraint solutions that meet both performance and compliance requirements.
By combining their high-performance Rubber Load Mat and specialised bonding system, Reglin products delivered a long-lasting, integrated load restraint surface for the clients heavy civil construction transport needs.
