Long-Term Wear Protection in Tripper Chute at Cement Manufacturing Facility

Project Overview

When a large cement manufacturing facility in Victoria was constructed in 2022, the design identified the tripper chute as a critical part of the bulk material handling system. Designed to transfer materials such as clinker and slag from the Wharf in-feed conveyor to the facility’s storage silos, the tripper chute plays a vital role in maintaining the site’s production flow, which supports the facility’s capacity to process up to 1.3 million tonnes of cement-based products annually.

As part of the plant’s original construction, Reglin Cera-Wear HR Ceramic Wear Pads were selected and installed as the primary wear protection lining in the tripper chute. These rubber-backed ceramic liners were chosen for their ability to provide long-lasting abrasion resistance, impact absorption, and flexibility to suit the geometry of the chute.

Solution: Cera-Wear HR Ceramic Liners Extend Service Life

Since their installation, the Cera-Wear HR Ceramic Liners have performed exceptionally well, remaining in excellent condition. The combination of 92% alumina ceramic tiles embedded in a durable rubber matrix has delivered outstanding wear protection in one of the plant’s most critical areas, handling high volumes of abrasive bulk materials year after year.

Building on this proven success, Reglin has since worked with maintenance contractors to extend the same high-performance wear protection to other chutes downstream of the tripper. These additional chutes had experienced accelerated wear causing significant damage to steelwork and required a longer-lasting solution to reduce maintenance frequency and improve reliability.

Working with maintenance contractors, Reglin supplied and supported the installation of Cera-Wear HR Ceramic Liners in these downstream chutes, ensuring they now have the same high wear resistance and long service life as the original tripper chute lining.

The Result: Proven Long-Term Wear Protection

By using Reglin Cera-Wear HR Ceramic Wear Pads, the Cement Facility has:

  • Achieved successful long term wear protection in a critical transfer chute.
  • Reduced maintenance costs and liner changeouts in high-wear zones.
  • Improved plant reliability by extending wear protection to downstream chutes.
  • Continued to support efficient and sustainable cement production.

Conclusion

With a proven track record of long-term performance in critical material handling applications, Reglin Cera-Wear HR Ceramic Liners have become the trusted wear solution by the facilities owner. By extending this protection to other high-wear chutes, they continue to optimise plant reliability and maintenance efficiency for the long term.
